As a child, I would hug my puppy all day, sleep with it in my bed, and let it lick me all over my face. Her name was Goldie, a gorgeous golden Cairn Terrier, and I loved her. I always thought I’d have a puppy for my kids. But then I grew up and reality hit. A puppy is way too much work. Of course this is strictly my own personal view- as millions of people have dogs and other such pets. And I wish I could be one of those people- unfortunately I am not.…Continue Reading

Something pretty amazing happened recently. I started a blog (yes, the one that I’m aware of you reading right now) and I didn’t actually think people would read it or notice it. But then I started to get recognized- on the bus, walking through town, in the bakery- no, I was not buying the pastries for myself. It got to a point where I thought it was just in my head- but then I was walking up the street with my kids towards the mall, while FaceTiming with a friend back in New Jersey. There was a man walking behind us, he caught up and said, “Excuse me, but are you ‘Tova in Israel’?” My friend on the phone was in shock. And I was happy people witnessed that- so I would know it isn’t just in my head. My kids started jumping and laughing, yelling out loud, “My Mommy is famous.” Sorry to disappoint them- I’m really not- just in my imagination. Maybe.…Continue Reading
When we moved to Israel, my husband and I came to the conclusion that I wouldn’t work for the first year. We decided it would be important to focus on having our family settle and acclimate to a new country, culture, school, language, and friends. There are so many changes when picking up a family from everything they’ve come to know and love. Since I have always worked outside the home, I was actually pretty excited for a year of “vacation.”
